Zante wall lamp

The shape of the Zante wall lamp was inspired by the receding waters of the ocean during my stay in Portugal, and the name comes from the Portuguese word vazante, tide.

I used the introspective, soft form to create a sense of the way light is created. The patinated copper plate highlights the light that shines from within the form, while the contrasting touch and shade of the American walnut that makes up the rest of the body enhances the contrast between light and dark.
