Presence Sanctuary
The project addressed the question of presence: although the present is the only moment that exists, we are rarely aware of it - we think about the past and the future. In the design process, I was looking for ways to encourage people to recognise and experience the present moment.
I drew inspiration from a personal experience of being present, and moulded elements of that memory - the icy lake, the mountains surrounding it and the late afternoon sky. The resulting work of art is a sanctuary where we can immerse our faces in the present moment.
