Otti nightstand
In connection with my furniture design, I dealt with the rethinking of ornamentation and the integration of craftsmanship. It was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, founded at the end of the 19th century, which was brought to life by thedrawback of the industrial revolution: the flood of low-quality goods created by factories and the alienating effect of monotonous factory work. Mass production has only expanded since then, and although I do not aim to distance myself from machine work, I believe that hand-worked details can add a lot to the ideological value and aesthetics of objects. During the design of the bedside table, I aimed to apply the traditional decoration in a contemporary way and strive for sophisticated detailed solutions. I completed the asymmetrical composition made of ash wood with ceramic plates and handle, which strengthen the handcrafted nature of the object.
